AMERICAN ILLUSTRATION 28

I submitted a few of my pieces to AI28 a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I received this email:

We are pleased to inform you that work you submitted to American Illustration 28 has been CHOSEN to appear on TRIBUTE our web gallery at ai-ap.com.

On behalf of the entire jury, I thank you for your submission and support of American Illustration. This year’s distinguished jury included Luis Blanco, INTERspectacular; Max Bode, The New Yorker; Ken DeLago, Golf Digest; Kelly Doe, The New York Times; Matthew Lenning, Bon Appetite; Mitch Nash, Blue Q; Justine Strasberg, Nickelodeon; Michael Uman, INTERspectacular.

…it was one of only 200 images from a record-breaking 8,100 submitted to receive at least 2 votes in the student category and is therefore eligible to appear permanently on our website - where over time illustrators build an online portfolio of their AI winning images and where creatives make direct contact with them. TRIBUTE is being redesigned with new search capabilities and will be launched in November.

The piece that got chosen was "Bully":

Congratulations to Charlie and Kim for getting work chosen as well!! You guys are awesome.

Also, if you're in NYC, please come check out the SVA Senior Open Studios-- my classmates have worked SO hard this year and I'm REALLY impressed with the quality of work that we have generated over the past two semesters-- I'm so privileged to be graduating with some of the most talented people I know.

I've got a massive workload over this weekend-- my portfolio review is on Monday, on top of a freelance job due on 05/07, and with graduation and family visits coming up, I doubt I'll have any time to breathe until June. Either way, I'm really looking forward to attending some of the senior shows and seeing the hard work and effort pay off for everyone, especially the animation thesis shows that I've heard so many good things about this year.
